Leeds United are in the midst of a defensive crisis.

Leeds United have spent ‘a chunk of deadline day’ looking for central defenders, according to the Daily Mail [live blog entry 18:07].
It is claimed, however, that the Whites are only interested in those available on six-month loan deals, and have – so far – been ‘unable to find a solution’.
Pontus Jansson is the only specialist centre-half currently available to Leeds, after Matthew Pennington and Connor Shaughnessy suffered injuries this week.

Their captain, Liam Cooper, meanwhile, will miss his side’s next three matches through suspension.
According to the Daily Mail, however, Leeds are not rushing to push anything through before tonight’s 11pm deadline.

Thomas Christiansen has already added three players to his promotion chasing squad this month, with ex-West Bromwich Albion forward Tyler Roberts following left-back Laurens de Bock [Club Brugge] and midfielder Adam Forshaw [Middlesbrough] to Elland Road.
Full-back Gaetano Berardi filled in alongside Jansson after Shaugnessy’s early withdrawal against Hull City on Tuesday.
