According to a report in the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds United had come very close to signing Ben White from Brighton & Hove Albion, but Marcelo Bielsa cancelled the deal.

Leeds’ board felt that the Whites needed another centre-back, to help strengthen their squad.

However, Bielsa was adamant in his belief that Leeds had enough quality in their squad.

Leeds’ board backed down over the situation, and let Bielsa continue with the defenders currently in his squad.

As a result, White stuck around at Brighton, where he has only played development squad football this season.

The 21-year-old is still highly regarded by the Seagulls, but it remains to be seen whether Leeds could come back for him in January.

Bielsa has already suggested that Leeds have very little plans to make additions in January, with the Elland Road side not expecting a busy transfer window in the new year.
