According to Foot Mercato, Leeds United have decided to sign Illan Meslier on a permanent contract.

It has been reported by the French news outlet that Leeds will exercise the option to secure the services of the goalkeeper on a permanent basis.

The 20-year-old joined the Whites on a season-long loan deal from Lorient in the summer of 2019.

Stats

According to WhoScored, Meslier has played six times in the Championship and once in the FA Cup for Leeds so far this season.

Good decision from Leeds United?

Meslier has been playing regularly for the Leeds first team in recent games due to the suspension of Kiko Casilla.

The Frenchman has done well, as he has made some good saves and has also made good distribution.

With Leeds looking likely to clinch promotion to the Premier League for the 2020-21 campaign, it does make sense for the West Yorkshire outfit to sign Meslier on a permanent contract given his obvious quality and performances after stepping up in the absence of Meslier.
