According to the Newcastle Chronicle, Leeds United have placed a cash bid for Newcastle United goalkeeper Freddie Woodman.
Earlier this week Woodman was named as one of three goalkeepers on Leeds’ shortlist, and according to the Newcastle Chronicle, the Whites have already made an offer for Woodman.
Unfortunately, we don’t know how much that bid was for or whether or not it was accepted, but this is certainly a sign that Woodman is a player Leeds want.
Woodman apparently isn’t the number one name on Leeds’ shortlist, with Victor Orta reportedly preferring another young goalkeeper who plays abroad, but it seems as though there is a deal to be done here at the right price.
Leeds would be getting a fantastic glovesman if Woodman came in, he’s previously been described as a ‘talented boy’ by his former coach at Kilmarnock, and despite the fact he’s never played a game in the Premier League, his CV is outstanding.
Indeed, the 24-year-old has won two honours at international youth level, winning the U20 World Cup in 2017 and the Toulon tournament the following year.
Leeds certainly need a goalkeeper after the departure of Kiko Casilla on loan to Elche, and it seems as though Woodman could be the one they go for.
