According to the Daily Mail, Leeds United failed with a huge bid for Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey.
It’s claimed that Leeds made a big-money move for the winger in the hope of making him their marquee summer signing.
However, Leverkusen wanted £36million for the Jamaican star, and Leeds seemingly couldn’t come up with that kind of money.
In the end, Leeds signed a different left-footed winger as Raphinha arrived from Rennes for £17million – around half the price Bailey would have cost.
Raphinha has shown real promise at Leeds, particularly impressing with a superb winning goal against Everton last month.
Still, Bailey would have been a huge addition for Leeds. He has been in superb form this season, bagging five goals and six assists in 14 games for Leverkusen.

The 23-year-old has impressed since joining Leverkusen from Genk in 2017, and is now wanted by the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Everton.
With Raphinha on board, Leeds likely won’t be dipping back into the market for Bailey any time soon, but their bid for him shows the calibre of player they Whites are seeking.
