According to FootMercato, Leeds United are among the clubs interested in signing Lens defender Loic Bade.

Rennes, Lyon, Borussia Monchengladbach and AC Milan are also reported to be monitoring the 20-year-old.

However, according to the report in the French news outlet, the 20-year-old does not want to leave Lens in the January transfer window, but a departure is possible in the summer of 2021.

Rising star in French football

Bade joined Lens in the summer of 2020 on a free transfer after he left Le Havre.

The 20-year-old defender has made an immediate impact at Lens and has established himself as an important player in the team.

According to WhoScored, the Frenchman has played 16 times in Ligue 1 so far this season.

In November 2020, Bade’s teammate Ignatius Ganago described him as “confident and reassuring” on Ligue 1.com.

Need for a defender

Leeds signed Robin Koch and Diego Llorente in the summer of 2020, but while the former is injured at the moment, the latter has had injury and fitness issues.

Head coach Marcelo Bielsa could do with a defender as cover, but it seems that he will have to wait until the summer for Bade, who could be a very good long-term signing for the Premier League club.

Meanwhile, La Nazione has suggested that Leeds have made an approach to Fiorentina for 23-year-old forward Christian Kouame.
