Leeds United are set to seal the signing of Jay-Roy Grot, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.
A fee is close to being agreed with NEC Nijmegen and Grot is travelling to England to undergo a medical at the club tomorrow (23/8).
Grot, 19, is a Dutch youth international striker who NEC wanted to hold onto. However with just one year remaining on his contract they are likely to accept Leeds’ offer, reported to be around £1.5 million.
Leeds are keen to push ahead quickly to make new signing after selling Chris Wood to Burnley for £15 million.
Grot scored five goals for NEC last season and was building a big reputation for himself in his homeland.
Leeds are currently unbeaten in the Championship this season and are keen not to let Wood’s departure affect them. The New Zealand striker had scored once in his three appearances.
The Whites take on Nottingham Forest this weekend and Leeds hope to have Grot available as an option in time for the fixture.
