It is claimed that Leeds United hope to beat Wolverhampton Wanderers to Griffiths’ signature, despite the Celtic striker appearing to have healed his rift with Bhoys boss Brendan Rodgers.
Leeds United manager Garry Monk
Garry Monk wants to make Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths Leeds United’s first summer signing, the Sun reports [24 May, page 72].
Leeds are said to have automatically extended Monk’s Elland Road contract by a further 12 months, with a new five-year deal planned.

And it is claimed the 38-year-old is planning to celebrate by beating Wolverhampton Wanderers to Griffiths’ signature in a £3 million deal.
Griffiths has often found himself playing second fiddle to Celtic teammate Moussa Dembele this season and was involved in a public spat with Bhoys boss Brendan Rodgers during last week’s win against Partick Thistle – although this appears to have been swiftly resolved.

Nevertheless, the 26-year-old may fancy a change of scenery if Dembele is to remain first choice at Celtic Park.
And Monk’s relationship with Rodgers, who had him as captain at Swansea City, could swing a deal in Leeds’ favour over Wolves.

Griffiths previously spent time in English with Wolves, but never played for the Molineux side at Championship level.
Would Celtic’s Griffiths be a good signing for Leeds United/Wolverhampton Wanderers?
