Leeds United are hopeful of signing Everton’s Matthew Pennington in the summer.

Pennington is on a season long loan from the Toffees and has impressed when given an opportunity.
The YEP report states Leeds believe Pennington is a ‘shrewd investment’ if they can land him, although they fear he may want to try his chances back at Everton initially with the club under different management to when he left.

The early part of his spell at Leeds was hampered by an injury sustained in the opening game of the season, and then he has been the odd man out with Liam Cooper and Pontus Jansson preferred at centre-back.
He has currently accumulated only five league starts, and seven appearances as a substitute.
Now he has a chance to stake his claim, with Cooper suspended for four games after picking up his second red card of the season.
The 23-year-old will be tasked with helping Leeds get their season back on track after a disastrous start to 2018.
The Whites sit in 10th place after consecutive defeats, although they are only three points back from the play-off places.
If they can win promotion to the top flight then they will become even more of an attractive proposition to Pennington, although right now it takes a real optimist to believe this Leeds squad is good enough to win promotion.
