Leeds United boss was in demand.
Elland Road
Leeds United beat competition from five other teams to appoint manager Thomas Christiansen, according to Spanish newspaper SPORT.
Christiansen finished last season as a title winner in Cyprus with APOEL, and gained huge credibility by his side beating Athletic Bilbao in the Europa League.
SPORT report this saw interest rise in Christiansen across the continent.
Greek side Olympiakos, two German Bundesliga teams, one team in France, and one team in Spain were all claimed to be interested in appointing Christiansen.
Christiansen told SPORT that he was thrilled to get the Leeds job, describing it as a ‘magnificent challenge’ and commenting that he is the ‘happiest guy in the world’.

While he remains very much an unknown in England, he is clearly held in high regard around Europe and this should give supporters confidence that they have brought in the right man.
Christiansen has the chance to write his name into history with Leeds if he can become the man to finally end their spell outside the top tier by leading the Whites to promotion.
