Leeds United are reportedly firming up their interest in winger Alexander Alvarado.
According to newspaper El Telegrafo in Ecuador, as spotted by Sport Witness, Leeds United have now asked about a deal to sign SD Aucas winger Alexander Alvarado.
Leeds are in the market for three wingers this summer, and it seems that Ecuadorian youngster Alvarado is on the radar for Marcelo Bielsa and co as one for the future.
The 20-year-old has played 10 top flight games for Aucas, picking up one assist, but it’s performances for Ecuador at this summer’s Under-20 World Cup that have made him a wanted man.
Leeds are thought to have asked about a deal, but given that he has a six-month old son, it’s believed that Alvarado will take his time and consider his future before committing to a move to Elland Road.
A diminutive left winger, Alvarado may well have a huge future ahead of him, and Leeds have invested plenty into their development setup in recent years.
Alvarado would figure to join those ranks rather than head into Bielsa’s first team, and Leeds’ firming up their interest comes just days after he was flagged up by Leeds scout Gaby Ruiz.
Ruiz told FIFA.com last week that he felt Alvarado was a key part of a ‘superb’ Ecuador midfield at the Under-20 World Cup, so it’s no great surprise that Leeds have taken his words and allegedly made a move.
