According to The Athletic, Leeds United are interested in signing Marc Roca this summer from Bayern Munich.

The Spanish midfielder joined the Bavarian outfit two years ago for €15m (£12m), but since arriving in the Bundesliga he’s found gametime hard to come by.

Indeed, Rocas has played just 15 league games in two years at Bayern Munich, and it’s understandable as to why he would like to move on and in search of more first-team football.

The Spaniard is quite clearly a very talented player. After all, you don’t catch the eye of Bayern Munich unless you have something about you.

However, Bayern are not the only super club to have been impressed by Roca.

Indeed, back when the midfielder was making his name at Espanyol, he was also courted by Real Madrid who, according to Mundo Deportivo, had a serious interest in Roca.

Of course, Madrid eventually lost out to Bayern, but this is the calibre of player we are talking about here.

Yes, that was two years ago, but if Jesse Marsch can get Roca back playing his best football then the Whites will have a gem on their hands here.

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time in recent years that Leeds have tried to sign a central midfielder from Bayern Munich. Mickael Cuisance even went as far as to do a medical with the club before a deal fell through back in 2020.

Since then, Cuisance’s career has somewhat gone off the rails, and if Leeds snap up Roca for a reported £10m, they will be hoping that he doesn’t follow the same path as the Frenchman.
