According to The Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds United are interested in RB Salzburg’s Mohamed Camara as a potential replacement for Kalvin Phillips.
The Yorkshire Pirlo has been linked with a move away from Elland Road this summer and if the England international leaves, he’ll need replacing.
Luckily, Leeds have a couple of names in mind, and according to this report, Camara is one player that Victor Orta has long been an admirer of.
The midfielder isn’t seen as a priority target, but there is an admiration there, and he seems to be on Leeds’ list.
As we all should know by now, Leeds have been extensively scouting RB Salzburg for some time now. Their current manager, Jesse Marsch, used to work for the Austrian club, while Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen have both arrived from the Champions League side already this summer.
Leeds will have seen plenty of Camara from their time scouting Aaronson and Kristensen, and it seems as though the Whites have been very impressed.
At the age of just 22, Camara has a lot of room to grow, and you have to feel that he’d fit perfectly into Marsch’s patented 4-2-2-2 system. After all, he worked alongside him in Austria.
If Camara is to replace Phillips, he’ll have to be brilliant. Phillips has been one of Leeds’ top performers season-on-season for the past five years, and if he does make that reported move to Manchester City, he’ll leave behind big shoes to fill.
Whether or not this move comes to fruition or not remains to be seen, but if Phillips to City accelerates in the coming weeks, Camara is certainly a player worth keeping an eye on.
