Leeds United and Middlesbrough have entered the race for Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper David Stockdale, according to the Mirror.

Stockdale, who was named in the EFL Championship team of the year beside Leeds pair Chris Wood and Pontus Jansson, is out of contract this summer.

And the 31-year-old has already been linked with a move to West Ham United, with the Mirror reporting last week that Brighton boss Chris Hughton fears his departure to the Hammers (Mirror).

Stockdale had previously ‘liked’ and retweeted a post suggesting that West Ham sign him, while it is claimed he could again be a target for Premier League champions-elect Chelsea if second-choice ‘keeper Asmir Begovic is sold.

Despite looking unlikely to follow Brighton into next season’s Premier League, Leeds could still have the upper hand in any pursuit given that Stockdale has supported his hometown team since childhood.

Although, having said that, the Whites only recently handed a new deal to veteran shot-stopper Rob Green, which may convince Stockdale to snub his heroes in favour of other offers.

Middlesbrough, whose relegation back to Championship remains a strong possibility, are set to lose long-serving goalkeeper Dimi Konstantopoulos this summer, and could look to move on high-earning duo Brad Guzan and Victor Valdes if they go down.

Could Stockdale chose Leeds, Middlesbrough or West Ham over current employers Brighton?
