Middlesbrough’s former chief scout Victor Orta is apparently in the running for the role.

Leeds United are trying to build their back-room staff ahead of next season, with the club hoping to earn the promotion they narrowly missed out on in 2016-17.

Andrea Radrizzani is set to take full ownership of the club whilst Leeds are also trying to secure Garry Monk’s future with his deal expiring in the summer.

On top of the ownership and management issues, Leeds also intend to appoint a new technical director at the club. According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, the intention is that the person for this job will be a foreigner.

The report claims that Monk is open to the idea of working within this structure, which will involve working with the technical director in order to recruit players for the Championship next season.

The author of the initial report went on to confirm on twitter that Victor Orta is in the running for the job. The Spaniard was let go by Middlesbrough, where he was head of recruitment, and brought in the likes of Gaston Ramirez, Alvaro Negredo and Adama Traore at the Riverside.

Leeds United would certainly welcome players of that talent arriving at Elland Road this summer.
