Leeds United are set to miss out on Eberechi Eze, who will join Crystal Palace in the next 48 hours, the Telegraph report.

The Sun claimed that Leeds were trying to tie up a deal for Eze with Queens Park Rangers, but getting the transfer over the line has simply proved impossible for Marcelo Bielsa’s men.

Eze, instead, will join Palace – with the Eagles beating off a host of competition to his signature.

West Ham United, Fulham and West Bromwich Albion had all been keen admirers of the 22-year-old, but it is Palace who have won the race.

The playmaker, who took the Championship by storm last season, is expected to join Palace in a £19.5 million deal – with a fee agreed between the two London sides now.

Leeds may be disappointed to miss out on signing such a skilful player, but they have been making transfer moves of their own.

The Yorkshire Evening Post suggest that Rodrigo will arrive from Valencia soon, with Leeds seemingly prioritising getting a deal for a striker done over an attacking midfielder.

At Palace Eze is likely to add some much needed creativity into Roy Hodgson’s squad, as they were far too reliant on Wilfried Zaha for attacking inspiration last term.
