Leeds United are reportedly set to give up hope of landing Jaap Stam.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds United are moving on from their hopes of landing Jaap Stam as their new manager – and Spaniard Victor Sanchez is in the mix for the job.
Leeds are yet again looking for a new manager this summer following Garry Monk’s shock resignation last month, with the 38-year-old moving on after just one year in charge at Elland Road.

Monk has since taken over at Middlesbrough, whilst Leeds remain in the hunt for a new manager as Andrea Radrizzani face his first big decision since taking sole ownership of the club.
The Yorkshire Evening Post now report Leeds are giving up on their hopes of luring Reading boss Jaap Stam to Elland Road, having initially – and ambitiously – viewed him as a potential target.

Stam, 44, guided Reading to the Championship play-off final in his first season in charge only to lose to Huddersfield Town, with his Royals side earning huge praise for their style of play under former Ajax coach Stam.
Despite being a former Manchester United defender and having a fractious relationship with Monk, Stam was being targeted by Radrizzani, but their pursuit appears to be over with Reading attempting to extend his contract.

One man who is in the frame though is Spaniard Victor Sanchez, who is out of work having lost his job as manager of La Liga side Real Betis in May, having won just eight of his 29 games in charge.
The 41-year-old worked as a coach with Sevilla during Leeds director of football Victor Orta’s time there, meaning the pair could reunite this summer – but his patchy managerial record with Deportivo La Coruna, Olympiacos and Betis will do little to inspire Leeds fans, though he is only described as an ‘outsider contender’ right now.
