A lack of first-team football is the main reason behind Yasser Larouci’s imminent departure from Liverpool with Leeds United and Brentford holding talks with the teenage contract rebel, according to Goal.
While a 19-year-old Algerian is highly regarded at Anfield, with Jurgen Klopp giving him the odd run out in 2019/20, it seems that Larouci is not interested in spending another season on the sidelines.
Goal reported last week that Brentford and newly-promoted Leeds are interested in offering the former Le Havre starlet, who has rejected a new contract at Liverpool, the chance to establish himself in senior football away from Merseyside.
Leeds stormed to the Championship title this week but the left-back spot remains something of a problem position at Elland Road.
Barry Douglas arrived amid huge expectations but fitness and form have been elusive. Stuart Dallas, Jack Harrison and Gianni ‘the Duracell Bunny’ Alioski have filled in effectively at times but all three are more comfortable in more advanced roles.
And given that Marcelo Bielsa cares not about age but ability, West Yorkshire could be the ideal destination for the attack-minded Larouci.
Goal claims that he is keen to find a club where he can play week-in-week-out – and it seems that Leeds fit the bill with talks underway.
Brentford are also interested, with Thomas Frank’s side still in with a chance of securing automatic promotion on the final day of the Championship season.
