Leeds United reportedly face a battle if they hope to sign Jamal Blackman on loan this summer.

Leeds need to get a new goalkeeper through the door during this window. The mistake-prone Felix Wiedwald has already left after just one season at Elland Road, and it would be little surprise if Andy Lonergan was also not in Marcelo Bielsa’s plans for next term, potentially leaving only Bailey Peacock-Farrell in the ranks.

Blackman certainly appears to be on the club’s radar. The Sun on Sunday (01/07; page 59) reports that the 24-year-old met with Leeds officials earlier this week, but a deal for the stopper does not appear to be straightforward for the Championship club.
The Sun on Sunday adds that Blackman has now flown onto the continent to meet with representatives from Vitesse to discuss a potential loan move to the Eredivisie.

Vitesse enjoyed a superb season in the Dutch top flight, finishing sixth in the table and booking a place in the coming season’s Europa League qualifiers. It seems likely to be an attractive option for the goalkeeper, but Leeds will perhaps be hoping that he follows Chelsea teammate Lewis Baker and decides to make the move to Yorkshire for the coming year.
If Bielsa and Victor Orta can get Blackman through the door, it would arguably be a major boost for the Whites with their goalkeeper options in desperate need of bolstering during this window.
