According to Ole, San Lorezno attacker Adolfo Gaich won’t be joining CSKA Moscow after talks over a move to Russia broke down.

CSKA were allegedly set to pay $12million (£9.5million) for Gaich, and the deal looked all set to go through over the weekend.

However, Gaich’s representatives have scrapped the move, and it now looks like interested clubs will now have another shot at signing Gaich.

One such club is Leeds United. Passione Inter reported last month that Leeds are rivalling Inter Milan for Gaich’s signature, with Marcelo Bielsa no doubt aware of his compatriot’s potential.

Gaich, 20, has already bagged seven goals and one assist in 27 first-team games for San Lorenzo, who look set to sell the striker this summer.

Bielsa may be known for his high-pressing, fluid football, but he has also shown a penchant for using a target man.

Fernando Llorente became a star under Bielsa with Athletic Bilbao, whilst Andre-Pierre Gignac was prolific thanks to Bielsa at Marseille.

Gaich fits a similar bill. He’s big and strong at 6ft 3in tall, but he’s far from an immobile lump up top, and could be a great impact player off the bench – certainly offering more than Jean-Kevin Augustin has.

If Bielsa wants a physical force up top like Llorente or Gignac, then Gaich could be ideal. With CSKA struggling to get a deal done, Leeds may have another chance.
