Leeds are still pursuing Swansea winger Daniel James.
According to The Mirror, Leeds United have held lengthy talks with Swansea City about a deal for winger Daniel James – but no breakthrough has been reached.
The Whites have made two signings now this month, adding Ruch Chorzow midfielder Mateusz Bogusz today, having landed Real Madrid goalkeeper Kiko Casilla earlier this month.
Leeds remain in the market for new signings though, and are hoping to add more pace out wide to give Marcelo Bielsa’s side more attacking thrust in the promotion run-in.
The top target is Swansea youngster James, who has shown real promise this season with one goal and three assists for Graham Potter’s side.
The Mirror now report that Leeds have held ‘lengthy’ talks over a move for James, but they have been unsuccessful so far, with a fee still yet to be agreed.
Swansea want £12million for the 21-year-old wide man, but Leeds would rather pay a lower figure up front with incentives in the future.
It remains to be seen whether Leeds can bridge the gap in negotiations and get a deal done, because if they don’t, it’s claimed that the Whites have no other targets and will walk away from James if they have to.
Bielsa is claimed to have picked James out of a list of targets himself, presented to him by Victor Orta, and he may just be the only attacking target Leeds have heading into deadline day.
