The current Leeds United midfielder, Mateusz Bogusz, could have spent the season playing under a former one.

Bogusz completed a season-long move to the Spanish side, Logrones, on deadline day.

But the Pole was also of interest to the Charlton Athletic manager, Lee Bowyer, according to London News Online.

Bowyer spent the height of his career at Leeds, before returning to Charlton, his boyhood club, post-retirement.

The newspaper’s claim ties in with that of Bogusz, who told the Logrones website he had ‘five or six’ offers from clubs in Poland, Italy and England.

But a move to Spain was the preferred choice of Marcelo Bielsa, according to Bogusz.

“I think it was the option he preferred the most,” he added of the Whites head coach. “At Leeds we play the Spanish style, we like to maintain possession of the ball and play with an attractive style that excites the fans, high pace.

“Bielsa is a top coach and I have learned a lot from him, but I feel like it’s time to play more matches.”

As well as Bowyer, Charlton’s ex-Leeds alumni also includes the defender, Jason Pearce.

The South London side were relegated back to League One last season and spent much of the summer in turmoil before Thomas Sandgaard’s buyout.
