Leeds United loanee Cameron Borthwick-Jackson is set to move on this month.
According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United are set to recall Cameron Borthwick-Jackson from his loan spell with Leeds United – and Reading have joined the race to land him.
Borthwick-Jackson burst onto the scene during the 2015-16 season under Louis van Gaal, impressing at left back for the Red Devils after coming up through the ranks at Old Trafford.
The defender has struggled over the last 18 months though, as he played just seven times on loan at Wolverhampton Wanderers last term before heading to Leeds United last summer.
Another loan deal was supposed to get Borthwick-Jackson back on track, but instead his fortunes have even worsened, as he has played just six times this season, with only one appearance in the league – and that came all the way back in August.
Borthwick-Jackson has endured an nightmare time at Elland Road, and the Daily Mail now report that Manchester United are poised to pull the plug on his loan move and send him out elsewhere.
Reading have again been linked with a move, whilst Fulham are now believed to be joining the race to sign the 20-year-old during this month’s transfer window.
It’s claimed that Cottagers boss Slavisa Jokanovic is looking for a natural left back, as he wants to use Ryan Sessegnon in a more advanced role down the left flank.
Whilst Borthwick-Jackson has struggled at Leeds, it seems that other Championship clubs are open to offering him first-team football, and his time with Leeds is surely coming to an early end as a result.
