Leeds United face a real battle with Lyon for the signing of Brest left back Romain Perraud, according to the Daily Mail.

Reports surrounding Leeds’ interest in Perraud first broke in January, with Le10 Sport claiming that they were battling Southampton for him.

Contact was allegedly made in order to tee up a summer deal, but those rumours have gone pretty quiet since then.

The link is back though, with the Mail suggesting that Perraud is indeed a top summer target for the Whites as they desperately look to add another left back.

Perraud, 23, has impressed going forward with three goals and six assists this season, possessing real quality going forward, underpinned by a dangerous ability to shoot from range.

Yet if Leeds thought Southampton were their only challengers, they are very mistaken as Lyon now want to keep him in France.

Lyon currently have converted winger Maxwel Cornet at left back, whilst Mattia De Sciglio and exciting youngster Melvin Bard can also play there.

At Leeds, Perraud would likely be a regular starter under Bielsa, especially with Ezgjan Alioski’s contract set to expire this summer.

That’s something for Perraud to consider; does he chance his arm with Lyon despite major competition for the role, or head to Leeds where he can play a key role under Marcelo Bielsa? When you put it like that, Leeds should have a great chance to win the race.
