Leeds United have reportedly received a big boost over Stuart Dallas.
Stuart Dallas is an injury doubt for Leeds United’s trip to Ipswich Town on Sunday – but the club expect him to be fit for the playoffs, according to The Yorkshire Evening Post.
Dallas was taken off at half-time during Sunday’s chaotic 1-1 draw with Aston Villa after suffering a knee problem.
The Northern Ireland international was already playing in the absence of left-back trio Barry Douglas, Ezgjan Alioski and Leif Davis, none of whom will play again this season.
According to The Yorkshire Evening Post, Dallas won’t shrug off the knock in time for the trip to Portman Road, but that he will be available for the playoffs.
The report adds that Gaetano Berardi – who replaced the former Brentford winger at the weekend – is likely to deputise.
Dallas, a £1.5 million signing by Uwe Rosler in 2015 [Belfast Telegraph], is by no means the Whites’ best player, but he is a consummate professional who invariably gives 100% and having him fit for the promotion bid could be massive.
Berardi is a huge character for United too, but he has barely kicked a ball since October and therefore Dallas is probably the smarter option for Marcelo Bielsa, though the way things are going it wouldn’t be a surprise if the Swiss defender got injured this weekend too.
Avoiding defeat against relegated Ipswich will seal Leeds’ third-placed finish.
