Report: Leeds still want to sign ‘exceptional’ star soon, after he’s dropped from squad

Leeds United still want to add another signing, despite the closure of the transfer window yesterday, the Yorkshire Evening Post report.

English sides can still sign domestic players for over a week yet, and Leeds are looking to take advantage of that.

The Whites could well move for Norwich City’s Todd Cantwell, according to the latest update, with Leeds viewing the playmaker as an ideal addition.

Leeds have been chasing a new central midfielder, with Rodrigo de Paul and Michael Cuisance both heavily linked.

However, after those deals both failed to work out, it seems that Cantwell is next on their list.

The Norwich man has fallen out of favour at Carrow Road, with Daniel Farke unimpressed with his work in training, and he has been dropped from the Canaries’ matchday squad recently.

But he proved himself to be more than capable of performing in the Premier League last term, with his displays often receiving lavish praise.

Indeed, Chris Sutton labelled the playmaker as ‘exceptional’ on Radio Five Live last season.

If Cantwell was to join Leeds he would offer them more poise in central areas, and his ball carrying skills could aid Marcelo Bielsa’s side over the course of the season.
