Leeds United are reportedly vying with Rangers, Bristol City and Derby County for free agent midfielder Leon Osman.
According to The Scottish Sun, Leeds United are keeping tabs on the situation of free agent midfielder Leon Osman – but are just one of a number of teams interested in him.
The Whites take on Aston Villa tonight as they look to make it four victories in a row, and with a play-off place well within Garry Monk’s reach, January additions will be important.
Fans will be focusing on signing a new striker or signing Kyle Bartley and Pontus Jansson permanently, but reports suggest that manager Monk may have one eye on a new midfielder.
Leon Osman in action for Everton
The Scottish Sun report that Leeds are interested in free agent midfielder Leon Osman, who has been without a club since leaving Premier League side Everton at the end of last season.
Osman, 35, racked up over 400 appearances for Everton having come up through the ranks at Goodison Park, but played just nine Premier League games last season as his time with the Toffees came to an end.
Twice capped by England, Osman was a dependable midfielder for a number of Everton managers, and having worked in the media side of the game so far this season, clubs appear to be lining up moves to offer Osman a return to the playing side.

It’s claimed that Leeds, Bolton Wanderers, Bristol City and Derby County are all keeping tabs on Osman’s situation, whilst Scottish side Rangers are also interested in sealing a free transfer move in January.
Over the summer, the Daily Mail reported that Leeds boss Monk was plotting a move for Osman, with that rumour coming just days after he had missed out on a reunion with another veteran midfielder in Swansea’s Leon Britton (Yorkshire Evening Post).
Monk has established Championship midfielders such as Eunan O’Kane and Liam Bridcutt at his disposal, but both players have endured injury problems this season, leaving youngsters Kalvin Phillips, Ronaldo Vieira and Matt Grimes as Monk’s other midfield options, with Luke Murphy and Toumani Diagouraga out of favour.
Adding a veteran presence like Osman could make sense for Monk, especially with Leeds chasing promotion this season, and whilst he may not be a headline-grabbing addition, Osman could pass on valuable experience to those young midfielders at Elland Road.
