Leeds United are reportedly leading the race for Club Brugge defender Laurens De Bock.
According to the Daily Mail (08/01/2018, Press Reader), Torino are in the race to sign Laurens De Bock – but Leeds United continue to lead the pursuit of his signature.
De Bock, 25, has starred for Club Brugge since a 2013 move from Lokeren, racking up nearly 200 appearances in all competitions for the Belgian giants.
The left back, who racked up 55 caps for Belgium across various youth levels, has won one league title with Club Brugge, and may now look to move on this month.
The Daily Mail (08/01/2018, Press Reader) report that Leeds United are favourites to sign him this month, but face late competition from Championship rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers and Italian side Torino.
It’s claimed that the Whites are leading the race for De Bock, as personal terms and a proposed four-and-a-half-year deal are no issue, but a fee must still be agreed.
Leeds will now be hoping to get that agreed quickly, given that Torino are now joining the race for his signature during this month’s transfer window.
Strangely though, Torino do already have a host of players who can play at left back, including Cristian Ansaldi, Antonio Barreca, Alex Berenguer and Cristian Molinaro.
With Ansaldi only on loan, De Bock could be a long-term replacement, but if it’s first-team football he is looking for, then Leeds may well be the best destination for the Belgian.
