The Evening Standard claim the agents of Dan James are trying to find the winger a new club before the end of the transfer window – but the chances of a move from Leeds to Tottenham are deemed ‘unlikely’ on deadline day.

James, 24, dropped out of the starting line-up on Tuesday night. Jesse Marsch handed a first Premier League start to Luis Sinisterra. The Colombian scored from all of 25 yards, to draw the Whites level against Everton. The two drew 1-1.

Jack Harrison looks as though he will be first choice on the left, and Sinisterra on the right. So, Wales international James is looking to move, as he looks to get plenty of game time before the World Cup at the end of the year.

Fabrizio Romano reported on Wednesday that Leeds and Tottenham are separated in talks. Spurs want a loan-to-buy deal for the £25million man, but Leeds would prefer a permanent sale. Now, the Evening Standard deliver an update.

They say that the agents of James are trying to secure an exit for the ex-Manchester United man on deadline day. They say he does not feature in Marsch’s long-term plans at Elland Road. But a move to Tottenham is considered unlikely.

It is the kind of saga that has evolved incredibly quickly. In the last couple of weeks, James has starred for Leeds in a 3-0 win over Chelsea. While he struggled in his first season, Leeds fans still had faith that the winger would come good.

But now, with the World Cup a factor, James is looking to depart after just one season at Elland Road. Fulham and Everton are also being linked with a move for James. It will be interesting to see if James’ agents can find a move.
