Leeds United fear that Kalvin Phillips could miss the European Championships after picking up a ‘devastating’ injury against West Bromwich Albion, the Athletic report.
Phillips had to be taken off in Leeds’ 3-1 win over West Bromwich Albion on the final day.
Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa was coy after the game about the problem, and did not give much away.
However, the Athletic say that Leeds are concerned that the midfielder enforcer has dislocated his shoulder.
If that is to be the case then Phillips won’t be fit to feature for England this summer, in what could be a crushing blow for the player.
Phillips has emerged as a genuine potential starter for England in recent times.
He has featured prominently for the Three Lions of late, with Gareth Southgate often pairing him with Declan Rice in midfield.
Phillips’ inclusion had looked assured before the latest news, but there is now real concern that he may miss out.
That would be cruel on the Leeds man, who has enjoyed a remarkable season for both club and country.
Phillips has coped seamlessly with the step up in divisions, and his reputation has grown hugely after his first season in the top flight.
