Joel Robles may be set to get his first Premier League start for Leeds United in the coming weeks as Illan Meslier has come down with glandular fever.

The Spaniard was signed this summer as the Whites’ number two, and now, he may get his first taste of Premier League action for the Yorkshire club.

Inevitably, the idea of a second-string goalkeeper coming in is a cause for concern, especially with a game against Manchester City on the horizon.

However, Leeds seem to have a lot of faith in Robles.

In fact, according to The Athletic, the coaching staff at United have been very impressed by the Spaniard behind the scenes.

Indeed, sources within Elland Road have stated that Robles is a player who is keen to learn. He’s a good listener and open to analysis, which is always a positive when working under a manager like Jesse Marsch who is very analytical.

Of course, there’s a difference between doing it in training and doing it in an actual match, and we can assure Robles that he will never have come up against a striker quite like Erilng Haaland before.

However, if Robles wants to learn, this is the best way to do it, by playing against some of the best players in the world.

Robles is no stranger to the Premier League having spent time with both Wigan Athletic and Everton, but it’s been quite some time since he played in England and a lot has changed since then.

Leeds will go into the game against City as underdogs, but if Robles can keep the likes of Haaland at bay, the Whites will stand a chance of getting a result.
