The Whites have reportedly agreed a deal with Well for the 16-year-old winger to join the Championship club in July.
Leeds United have reportedly agreed a deal with Motherwell to sign Stuart McKinstry ahead of Southampton.
The 16-year-old winger, who netted for Scotland Under-17s in their last match against Hungary earlier this month, has yet to make his first team debut for the Scottish Premiership club but has been named in matchday squads.
According to the Scottish Sun report from January, McKinstry previously visited Thorp Arch, but it appeared that the Premier League south coast outfit tried to hijack the move.
However, a new report from the outlet has now claimed that the Whites successfully fought off the Saints approach with a summer move now on the cards.
According to the article from Saturday 16 February, McKinstry travelled south of the border to Leeds this week to secure a deal, with a move agreed for July as he sees the season out at Fir Park.
Motherwell are set to receive around £150,000 for the youngster up front but the fee will rise to if McKinstry breaks into Marcelo Bielsa’s first-team at Elland Road, added the report.
Leeds are renowned for bringing in young players at McKinstry’s age and developing them, with the likes of Sam Dalby, Jordan Stevens, Ryan Edmondson, Leif Davis and more being brought into the club from elsewhere.
