The Telegraph report that Leeds have shortlisted three managers in the event that Marcelo Bielsa departs the club in the summer. Namely, they are Carlos Corberan, Jesse Marsch and Ernesto Valverde.

Bielsa is out of contract in the summer and while he has always worked on a 12-month rolling deal – there are murmurs that this could be his final season at Elland Road. If he chooses to go, Leeds are preparing themselves.

Corberan worked under Bielsa at Elland Road and impressed as the club’s 23’s manager. He has since done well at Huddersfield, changing their system and guiding them into fifth in the Championship table this term.

Valverde replaced Bielsa at Bilbao before managing Barcelona – winning the La Liga on two occasions. He last 145 matches, more than than two years, before leaving in 2020. He has near 800 games as a manager under his belt.

Manchester United looked at Valverde before appointing Ralf Rangnick. Meanwhile, Marsch has just been sacked by RB Leipzig – after starring in the RedBull Salzburg job. The 48-year-old is known for his attacking style.

If Bielsa goes, which of the three suits Leeds the best?

Corberan is ready-made. When he went to Huddersfield, many thought he would eventually return having worked under Bielsa. Leeds players know him – but he does lack the calibre of the other two managers.

Marsch is yet to thrive at a big club, struggling at Leipzig. But he has huge expertise and plenty of potential at just 48. Valverde would be a massive coup – but it remains to be seen if Leeds would tempt him.
