Report: Leeds send scouts to watch Porto vs Braga clash

Leeds United reportedly had representatives in attendance as the top two sides in Portugal’s top flight met.

According to a report from Portuguese outlet A Bola, Leeds were amongst the long list of clubs from right across Europe who sent a scout to watch Porto’s win over Braga on Saturday.

The top two in the Portuguese top flight met at Estadio do Dragao at the weekend, with Porto coming out on top and moving themselves three points clear of their opponents thanks to a late goal from Tiquinho Soares.

It was not a classic, but there are likely to have been plenty of scouts who secured the information that they needed as A Bola reports that a large number from across the continent travelled to the game.

According to the report, Leeds sent a representative to the fixture, while Crystal Palace, Southampton Fulham and Manchester United were the other English sides who reportedly had eyes on the game.

Meanwhile, A Bola adds that Juventus, Marseille and Villarreal were also amongst the teams to send scouts to watch the two teams.

It is not clear who Leeds may have had their eye on, but given that both sides are flying high in the Portuguese top flight, the Elland Road faithful can take some encouragement with the January transfer window less than two months away.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men suffered only their third league defeat of the season on Saturday. But the nature of their loss at West Brom arguably highlighted how crucial the winter window could be as Leeds look to remain prominent players in the promotion hunt.
