Limerick defender Paudie O’Connor has today signed for Leeds United, with local newspaper The Limerick Leader claiming the deal is until 2019 – and the player has taken to Twitter to comment on the move.
The Whites left it late in the January transfer window to make two new signings, as wingers Alfonso Pedraza and Modou Barrow arrived on loan from Villarreal and Swansea City respectively.
Whilst the transfer window is closed, it seems that Leeds are still making moves in the market, with a young defender seemingly on his way to Elland Road.
The Limerick Leader report that Leeds have signed Limerick defender Paudie O’Connor on a two-and-a-half year contract, with the teenage centre back joining up with compatriot Eunan O’Kane at Leeds.
O’Connor, 19, stands at 6ft 3in tall, possessing great strength and aerial ability, and he allegedly spent time on trial with both Crystal Palace and Leicester City before signing on the dotted line with Leeds.
O’Connor is likely to join up with the Leeds development squad, and he gives Garry Monk a young centre back to nurture behind the likes of Pontus Jansson, Kyle Bartley and Liam Cooper.

Monk, a centre back in his playing days, will hope to see O’Connor grow and develop into a first-team player at Elland Road, and the player himself as reacted on Twitter after making his move to West Yorkshire.
O’Connor wished Limerick the best of luck and admitted that the last three-and-a-half years have been amazing, thanking the club as he attempts to make the grade with Leeds.
