Burnley have reportedly returned with a new move for Leeds United’s Charlie Taylor.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Burnley made a new approach to Leeds United for left back Charlie Taylor in a bid to avoid going to a tribunal.

Taylor, 23, has come up through the ranks at Elland Road, and made over 100 appearances for the Leeds first team before signalling his departure in May.

Having failed to agree a new contract to stay with Leeds, Taylor then refused to play on the final day of the Championship season against Wigan Athletic, meaning there was no way back for him with the Whites.

Taylor has long been expected to make the jump to the Premier League, but no club has been able to agree a compensation package with Leeds – and that means the move could head to a tribunal, which would determine the fee.

Now, the Yorkshire Evening Post report that Taylor will begin training with Burnley on Wednesday having agreed to join the Clarets, and Sean Dyche’s men are understood to have made a fresh approach to Leeds about a fee over the weekend.

Leeds allegedly want in excess of £5million, and if Burnley can’t agree a fee, then they could face an unpredictable outcome in the tribunal hearing, which Burnley went through following Danny Ings’ 2015 move to Liverpool.

Taylor’s Leeds career and the sorry saga surrounding his departure are finally coming to an end, and the Whites will be hoping to avoid the hassle of a tribunal themselves.

Cash is needed now in order to find a replacement for Taylor, as whilst new manager Thomas Christiansen could use Gaetano Berardi there, a natural left-footed left back would be ideal – and another £5million could aid Leeds land a replacement..
