Leeds United are ‘quietly confident’ of landing their first choice left-back target, the Yorkshire Evening Post report.

In the latest transfer update, the local paper says that Leeds are not on the verge of completing their first summer signing.

However, talks are believed to be progressing well for a left-back on Victor Orta and Marcelo Bielsa’s radar.

That player is not named by the YEP, but they do say that Leeds are pushing on with their interest in the full-back.

The Whites are said hopeful of a positive outcome, with a degree of confidence forming around Elland Road that they can get a deal over the line.

Important addition

If Leeds are to sign a left-back it is widely expected that he will step into their starting line-up.

Gjanni Alioski has had an impressive season at Leeds, but his future is currently uncertain.

The North Macedonian, who is currently at Euro 2020, has been heavily linked with a move away from the club, with his contract running down.

Even if Alioski does stay, the haste with which they have moved for a left-back suggests it is an area that Bielsa feels he could upgrade.

If Leeds do sign a left-back he is likely to be talented in an attacking sense and seriously energetic, as he will need both those qualities to fit into Bielsa’s system.
