Leeds United seemingly won’t be signing Alvaro Negredo.
According to Spanish newspaper AS, Besiktas have beaten Leeds United and Swansea City to the signing of Valencia striker Alvaro Negredo, having offered him a three-year contract.
Negredo, 31, spent last season on loan with Middlesbrough and scored eight goals in all competitions, before heading back to parent club Valencia following Boro’s relegation to the Championship.

The former Sevilla and Manchester City ace, who earned 21 caps for Spain, isn’t wanted at Valencia though, and speculation has surrounded his future in recent weeks as we enter the final month of the transfer window.
Now, Spanish newspaper AS report that Leeds United and Swansea City were interested in signing Negredo, but are set to miss out on his signature to Turkish giants Besiktas.
It’s claimed that agreements have been reached across the board for Negredo to join Besiktas on a three-year deal, and he will now undergo a medical ahead of his move to Turkey.
Leeds sporting director Victor Orta signed Negredo at Middlesbrough last summer and had seemingly hoped to pull off a deal to sign him again this summer, but those hopes have been slim at best.

The Yorkshire Evening Post reported that a deal for Negredo was always looking unlikely due to his wage demands, and they certainly couldn’t have offered him the three-year deal that Besiktas have handed him.
An unlikely deal now looks to be completely off the table, but Leeds must continue to pursue another striker this summer to support Chris Wood, even after landing Caleb Ekuban earlier this summer.
