Report: Leeds preparing improved offer for Baghdad Bounedjah

Leeds United made an offer for the striker in the summer, and a report from Algeria is claiming that they are ready to up that bid.

According to a report from Algerian outlet Le Buteur, Leeds remain interested in signing Baghdad Bounedjah after their summer bid for the striker and could improve their offer in January.

Bounedjah went into this campaign having scored 43 goals in 37 league games for Al Sadd. Le Buteur reports that the Whites made an offer to bring him to Elland Road, but it fell short of his current club’s £13.3 million asking price.

However, after an incredible start to the season, Le Buteur reports that Leeds remain amongst the group of clubs keen on a potential move for the Algeria international and are preparing a larger offer than the one that was knocked back in the summer.

It must be noted that the report adds that Marseille remains Bounedjah’s most likely destination, but it would be a major statement of intent from Leeds if they offered a sum that went close to Al Sadd’s previous asking price.

Unfortunately for Leeds – if they do remain keen on a deal – his price will have surely increased. He has scored 26 goals in just 13 league games so far this term.

His tally means that he has outscored 14 of Leeds’ Championship rivals this season.

It would be a surprise if Leeds did return with an offer that leaves Al Sadd with a decision to make. Kemar Roofe is doing superbly and the Elland Road faithful have barely had a glimpse of Patrick Bamford since his summer arrival.

But reports in Algeria believe that it is possible that the Whites could return with an improved offer when the window opens.
