Report: Leeds prepared to better rival bid for Rangers’ Josh Windass; but face uphill battle completing move

Glasgow Rangers midfielder Josh Windass is attracting attention from elsewhere, but he wants to stay at Ibrox, according to reports.

According to a report from the Daily Record, Leeds are interested in Rangers attacking midfielder Josh Windass, and are prepared to better the bid that has previously come in from their Championship rivals.

Windass has been something of a revelation during his second season at Ibrox, or rather since Graeme Murty took charge of the Gers. He is their second highest goalscorer in the Scottish Premiership with six goals, while he has also provided four assists in the top flight.

The Record reports that Preston North End have seen a £500,000 offer for the 24-year-old rejected during the January transfer window, but Leeds are now ready to make an even bigger offer for Windass.

However, it looks as if Thomas Christiansen’s side are facing an uphill battle in trying to lure Windass to Elland Road before the deadline at the end of the month, with the Record reporting that the forward wants to stay at Ibrox.

The Record adds that Windass is keen on signing on a new contract with the Light Blues in the near future and talks are set to get going again once the window closes.

But with Leeds struggling for goals from their forwards this season, perhaps the Whites will still try and test Rangers’ resolve to keep the former Accrington Stanley man at Ibrox if they feel that Windass is the man to give the team more threat going forward.
