According to The Sunday Mirror (02/08, p67), Leeds United are interested in raiding Brentford for attacker Ollie Watkins.

It’s claimed that Leeds are ready to pounce for Watkins if Brentford miss out on promotion in Tuesday’s Championship play-off final.

Marcelo Bielsa has allegedly been impressed with Watkins this season, with his running and versatility to play across the frontline seemingly attractive.

Bielsa knows that Brentford likely won’t sell Watkins if they win promotion, but Leeds are ready to make an attempt if they falter at Wembley.

Watkins cost just £1.8million from Exeter City back in the summer of 2017, but the Bees would now want around £30million for him.

Watkins, 24, has predominantly played as a striker this season, bagging 26 goals and three assists in 48 games under Thomas Frank.

What’s interesting is that Leeds are also being linked with Watkins’ teammate Said Benrahma, with the Daily Mail claiming their interest last month.

A double raid would cost big money, but Brentford will seemingly have to be on red alert if they don’t go up, as Leeds are circling Griffin Park.
