Samu Saiz has been linked with La Liga outfit Alaves with his future seeming to be away from Leeds United.

Deportivo Alaves are keen to sign Samu Saiz from Leeds United this summer, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Leeds’ £3 million playmaker appears to have played his last game for the club despite Getafe turning down the chance to sign him on a permanent basis after an ill-fated loan spell at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez.

The Yorkshire Evening Post claimed last week that an unnamed Spanish club had made an approach for Saiz and, after a bit more digging, it appears that Alaves have emerged as the interested party.

The perennial overachievers finished in 11th last season, which should be seen as a positive campaign despite the fact that they topped the table at Week 10.

Ironically, Saiz could replace the long-time Leeds United target Ibai Gomez at Alaves.

The impish winger, who worked with Marcelo Bielsa at Athletic Bilbao between 2011 to 2013, admitted back in January to Mundo Deportivo that he had an offer from The Whites before he decided to return to the Basque giants instead.

Valencia, meanwhile, continue to be linked with Saiz as well with El Gol Digital claiming recently that they could make an offer worth £5.5 million.
