Leeds United failed to land Ryan Kent this summer.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Leeds United did make a bid for winger Ryan Kent last month, but came up short with a £4.5million offer.
Kent, 22, starred on loan at Rangers last season with six goals and nine assists, and that seemingly sparked interest from Leeds as they looked for a new attacker after selling Kemar Roofe.
It’s now claimed that the day before the English transfer deadline, Leeds did launch a £4.5million bid for Kent, but Liverpool sent them packing.
That was a blow for Leeds, and they’ve now had the possibility of a January move ruled out as Rangers have signed him permanently in a deal worth around £7million – £2.5million more than Leeds’ last offer.
Krasnodar also failed with a £5million bid, and it’s fair to say that Liverpool have been justified in their decision to snub the Leeds offer having picked up much more cash.
Kent wasn’t going to break into Jurgen Klopp’s first team this season, and despite impressing last season and featuring in pre-season, he hasn’t been in a matchday squad for Liverpool this season.

Liverpool decided to hang on despite the English deadline passing, and that somewhat limited their options to sell him, whilst his value would have only deteriorated had he sat around and played the occasional Under-23 game.
Getting £7million is perfect for Liverpool now, and whilst they will be delighted with their decision to reject Leeds in search of more money, Leeds themselves may now feel that the final price wasn’t great value for them anyway, having taken Helder Costa and Eddie Nketiah on loan.
