A claim has been made that Leeds United are planning to wrap up a transfer for Blackburn Rovers’ Adam Wharton in the summer.
This revelation has been made by Football League World, after it was reported just last Monday that Newcastle United were enticed by a move for him.
As Leeds United draw up their transfer wish list ahead of next season, it seems like Adam Wharton is one of the coups they would like to make.
Leeds United plotting Adam Wharton swoop
A central midfielder by trade, the 18-year-old is one of the most talented young players currently playing in the Championship.
After all, the highly-rated technician was branded as a ‘teenage sensation’ by Omni Sports, which tells you all you need to know about him.
Leeds have clearly been blown away by just how gifted Adam Wharton is, as it has been reported that their scouts have ‘watched him loads’ this season in the hopes of getting a transfer over the line.

It has been emphasised that a number of other clubs have queued up in the race to sign Wharton and Sam Allardyce’s side will only have a chance if they manage to escape relegation.
Unlikely that Leeds sign the youngster
With only one game remaining in the Premier League and that too against Tottenham, the Whites not only require a win but need Everton to succumb to a defeat on the final day of the season.
As a result, it looks likely that Leeds will return to the Championship, ending their hopes of winning the transfer battle for Adam Wharton.
Wharton would likely aim for a Premier League move, where even he does not immediately become a first-team player, he could work his way up in the club’s academy system.
Sam Allardyce is also expected to leave the club at the end of the season, which makes Elland Road an unattractive proposition for such a sought-after wonderkid.
Newcastle, who have officially qualified for the Champions League, on the other hand are likely to be the frontrunners in the race to secure his services.
