Newcastle United and Leeds United will reportedly face strong competition in the summer for Olympique Marseille star Boubacar Kamara, with Atletico Madrid now in the race.
According to the Telegraph, the 22-year-old defensive unit is set to leave his boyhood club at the end of this season following the expiration of his contract, with Newcastle and Leeds just two clubs chasing the youngster as well as Manchester United.
However, the ‘intense’ competition for Kamara will likely come from the continent, with Atletico interested in the French youngster and more European clubs likely to register an interest in the versatile Ligue 1 star.
Kamara has been one of Marseille’s best players in recent years and has been hailed as a talent by fellow peers who could become a regular for the France national team in the coming years.
Able to play centre-back and defensive midfield, Kamara could be a perfect signing for many Premier League clubs, and his quality at the back makes him a prime target for the likes of Newcastle and Leeds, as well as some of Europe’s top sides.
Labelled as a ‘phenomenon’ by former Marseille teammate Rolando, Kamara will have his pick of clubs in the summer, and for Leeds and Newcastle, Atletico’s interest in the youngster will make things difficult for the Premier League sides.
Atletico and United could trounce Leeds and Newcastle for Kamara
Kamara could realistically move to the Premier League next season, however, with clubs like Man United in the mix, Leeds and Newcastle could struggle to compete with the European big-guns for the 22-year-old.
Indeed, Kamara will have the final say over which club he joins this summer, but with some heavyweights in the conversation, Leeds and Newcastle will likely find themselves unable to match whatever the likes of United and Atletico are offering.
