Leeds United have signed some big players on loan in recent years.
Last summer, nine months before their promotion-winning Championship season, Leeds’ Director of Football Victor Orta essentially only signed short-term players.
Jack Harrison, Helder Costa, Eddie Nketiah, Ben White, Jean-Kevin Augustin and Illan Meslier were all signed as loan players originally by Leeds’ transfer guru, throughout the course of the 2019-20 term.
The Whites have definitely benefited from these arrangements, but they have no choice but to sign one of their reported targets on a permanent basis.

But according to the same publication, Liverpool won’t be accepting anything other than an outright purchase of the Wales international, who has dazzled with Bournemouth and Derby County on loan in recent years.
The report adds that the Elland Road club – and his other suitors, Newcastle and Southampton – will have to stump up £20 million if they want Wilson.
It’s a pretty big amount, and Wilson would be Leeds’ second-most expensive signing of all time if it happens.
Then again, he scored seven Premier League goals for the relegated Cherries last term and working under a head coach like Marcelo Bielsa, the 23-year-old could still get a lot better.
