Leeds United defender Laurens de Bock is reportedly set to join Sunderland.
According to the Sunderland Echo, Leeds United defender Laurens de Bock is undergoing a medical with Sunderland ahead of a season-long loan deal.
The Whites paid £1.5million to sign De Bock in January 2018 (Yorkshire Evening Post), seemingly being brought in to solve Leeds’ left back problems.
Sadly, the Belgian never really got going with Leeds, making just seven appearances for the club before being sent on loan to Oostende last season.
Now back with Leeds, De Bock has no chance of first-team football under Marcelo Bielsa, and is now set to move on ahead of the European transfer deadline tonight.
It’s claimed that De Bock is now undergoing a medical with Sunderland ahead of joining the Black Cats on a season-long loan deal.
Sunderland have been desperate to find a new left back this summer, and with recent targets falling by the wayside, De Bock is now the man heading to Wearside.
The 26-year-old will hopefully get back to his best and finally make the most of his time in English football, having barely been given an opportunity at Elland Road.
De Bock still has three years left on his contract at Leeds, and they’ll be hoping to see him impress with Sunderland to ultimately win a permanent move.
