According to Gazzetta Dello Sport, Leeds United’s Victor Orta is just one of four names in the running to become Roma’s sporting director.
The Serie A side are seeking a new appointment after firing former sporting director Gianluca Petrachi back in July.
They have a number of potential options, and as has long been rumoured, Leeds man Orta is one of the main targets.
There are other names in the frame though, with ex-Chelsea and Monaco man Michael Emenalo believed to be on Roma’s radar.
Lille’s Jorge Campos and Red Bull’s Ralf Rangnick are also targets, with Roma casting their net far and wide in search of a new appointment.
Luring Orta away from Leeds may not be easy right now, given that he is leading one of the Premier League’s most exciting teams whilst luring the likes of Robin Koch, Diego Llorente, Raphinha and Rodrigo Moreno to Elland Road.

Roma would surely have to throw money at Orta to strike such a deal, and Leeds fans likely couldn’t have anticipated this after a difficult start to life in West Yorkshire.
Many of Orta’s signings in his first year were flops; Felix Wiedwald, Laurens De Bock, Caleb Ekuban, Pawel Cibicki, Jay-Roy Grot, Ouasim Bouy and Yosuke Ideguchi turned out to be disappointments.
Orta has turned it around though, and his work in the market not only has Leeds in the Premier League but now has Roma targeting him – and he’s seemingly down to the final few candidates.
