Report: Leeds’ January target Fredrik Andre Bjorkan likely to sign pre-contract agreement

Leeds United are in the market for a new left back this summer, and Frederik Andre Bjorkan was a name on their list for January.

The Whites look set to lose Ezgjan Alioski on a free transfer, and will need to find a replacement this summer.

Brest ace Romain Perraud is one name being heavily linked with a move to Leeds, but Bjorkan could still be an appealing option.

Leeds’ interest in Bjorkan

TEAMtalk reported in December that Leeds – alongside Newcastle United – were eyeing a January deal for Bodo/Glimt star Bjorkan.

No deal materialised, but as a young, quick and energetic left back, he does tick many boxes for Marcelo Bielsa and co.

What’s the latest on Bjorkan?

VG in Norway claim that, with Bjorkan’s contract set to end in December of this year, he’s unlikely to sign a new one.

In fact, it’s stated that Bjorkan is likely to sign a pre-contract agreement this summer and join his new club in January.

Teams from the Netherlands, Belgium and Italy are also thought to be keen on Bjorkan now.

Does Bjorkan make sense for Leeds?

Throwing the 22-year-old straight into Premier League action from Norway would be a gamble, especially if he was to arrive in the middle of the season.

Yet with 11 assists in 106 games for Bodo/Glimt, Bjorkan has shown that he is a real talent at left back and could be a star of the future.

Leeds still need an option brought in immediately, but if they want to bolster their options with a cheap option in January, Bjorkan certainly makes sense.
