Leeds United are interested in Pierre-Michel Lasogga, according to a report.
Leeds United have identified Hamburg striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga as a potential signing this month, according to The Yorkshire Evening Post.
The 25-year-old has been deemed surplus to requirements at the German outfit after netting once in 20 Bundesliga outings last season.
The Whites have been monitoring him for much of the summer transfer window and could make their move this month, claims The Yorkshire Evening Post.
The report goes on to state that his salary demands would be an obstacle in signing the former Germany Under-21 forward – one of the club’s highest earners.
But the YEP adds that Hamburg are willing to “compensate Lasogga’s wage” in an effort to offload him before the transfer window shuts.
Marcus Antonsson and Souleymane Doukara might well leave Leeds this month as Thomas Christiansen looks to have little use for either.
Neither of the forwards were named in Christiansen’s squad for United’s 3-2 win at Bolton in the Championship, or their 4-1 League Cup win over Port Vale last night.
And if both go then the Yorkshire side will need an additional striking option, with Chris Wood and Caleb Ekuban the only two options for now.
Lassoga might have won a full Germany cap in a friendly with Chile three years ago, but an injury made him withdraw from the squad.
